While the majority of addresses that are classified by the USPS as Commercial are business addresses, it's not entirely uncommon for multifamily properties (such as apartment communities or fraternity houses) to be classified as Commercial as well since mail is oftentimes delivered to the same place (i.e. the leasing office).
- If your new address is classified as Commercial, we are still able to process your mail forwarding request. However, keep in mind that whenever you are ready to move again, you will be unable to forward your mail from this address.
- If your old address is classified as Commercial, we won't be able to process any Individual or Family change of address requests from this address as this is prohibited according to the USPS.
So, what should you do if your old address is classified as Commercial? You'll want to utilize our Update Your Accounts feature to seamlessly notify any of over 15,000 businesses of your new address.
